By the way, I’m really enjoying your videos. I’m gonna build me some of these boxes and try that fertilizer regimen.
Have you had any issues with the ends of your dirt boxes starting to lean outwards due to the weight of the soil inside pushing outwards? It seems it would over time, especially since you used the 5/8″ fence planks. You’re good at the bottom, as your base boards will tie. But what about the top front corners? I put a single band board there as well. Check out my garden video where I show mine off. Granted, mine are 2×6 construction to hold up the totes. They better never bow…!
Neat dirt box with the slide out slats in the front. Being as you have to make one for composting, and you said that you and your wife don’t produce much waste, then maybe you only need to make it half the size of the other box. Also, and I may be wrong here, but shouldn’t a compost box have holes drilled in it for airflow?
The success is in the dirt whether it is in a raised garden bed or pot. If you don’t have a yard consider canister gardening. My sister does that very successfully. I’ll make a vid for you if you are interested to see how she does it. Her plants are amazing!

Yes, the tops are pushing outwards some. Not enough to concern me but I will have to do something about it eventually.

I learned that saying from the Director of the University of Texas Agriculture extension office. We have found it to be very true.
