Image by Walters Art Museum Illuminated Manuscripts
Early twentieth-century binding by Léon Gruel, Paris; brown morocco with gilt silver studs along the edges, small gilt silver corner bosses of cherubim, blind-stamped symbols of the Evangelists in neo-Gothic style on both covers, two gilt silver clasps (lower one now missing), spine with five raised bands and the name “Gruel” stamped in gold at the bottom, two paper flyleaves on each side (watermarked with a Britannia inside an oval)
This small, densely written volume was evidently made for personal reading. It represents high-level manuscript production in the first decades of the late Byzantine period. By 1628, it is known to have been in the Chilandari Monastery, or one of its dependencies, on Mount Athos.
Question by summerfun10<3: Are you still a vegetarian if you eat meat every once and awhile?
Would you still be a vegetarian? Does eating it every once and awhile help you quit cold turkey?
Feel free to answer in the comment section below
basic common sense says that if you eat meat you arent a vegetarian

Ola I’m not sure if they can find a solution to this question with the value
you are giving. You should make it more simple some more so that I can tell with more confidence. Just a thought! 😀 It would be nice from you to do that 🙂

You are doing the best you can. It is better than some people who are not trying to cut back.Don’t get too hung up on labels.

People usually call that “flexitarian”. If you’re easing yourself into vegetarianism slowly, though, then you’re just a vegetarian.

if you eat meat, you arent vegetarian
and cold turkey means you never ever have it again, not “i shall be weaned off it over a long time and have it periodically”

What is the point of a word? The only people that take offense at you using that word are people that you should not really care about anyway.
If you would like to enjoy meat once in a while and eat vegetables most of the time, go right ahead. And, If you enjoy calling yourself a vegetarian then I certainly would not push my nose into your personal life and complain about it.

No. Vegetarians never intentionally eat meat, end of story.
It’s like you can’t call yourself celibate if you have intercourse once in a while.
But don’t let that stop you from eating a mostly-vegetarian diet. If the label doesn’t quite fit, you can still do your best.

There is nothing wrong with eating it just every once in a while, actually thats great!
You are not, however, a vegetarian. But thats okay, right?

Not in the strictest sense. But then again Vegetarian is just a label. Do you really need or want a label.
There is no real reason to identify your diet. As long as you are aware of what you eat and make good choices. For example I prefer to eat only locally grown or raised food. But I do not own an oil press or for that matter grow grain and make flour. So I can not 100% follow what I prefer to eat.
Meals are as much a social event than anything else. It is considered rather rude to demand alternate food for yourself when you go to a gathering. Would it be so bad if you ate some Turkey at Thanksgiving?
Really nobody is going to come take away your vegetarian card if you occasionally eat meat.

To be truthful with you the answer to your question is no. It is okay though. There is no reason to need labels. And if you are doing your best in what you want to do then that is ALL that counts. If you feel you really need a label (which is okay also) go ahead and call yourself a Flexitarian.. here is a link for you

No, you aren’t. And quitting cold turkey means you just stop. If you eat meat every once in a while (not once and a while) on the path to a vegetarian diet, you aren’t quitting cold turkey, you’re weaning yourself.
Anyway, vegetarians never eat meat. You are what’s called a flexitarian, meaning you eat meat every once in a while.

Being a vegetarian is un-human-like. Do you understand why we have incisors? To bite into flesh. Also do you understand why wisdom teeth are useless? Because we don’t eat raw greens all the time like we did 2,000,000 years ago. There is a food chain, you know. And we don’t get to the top by eating leaves.

You would be a Flexitarian. (a term coined in 2003) A Flexitarian relies primarily on a Vegetarian diet, for day to day life… but will eat meat every now and again. Some people use Flexitarian diets as a doorway to eventually becoming Vegetarians and even Vegans… but other people are Flexitarians for life. It’s really up to you what sort of diet you adopt. My opinion is if a Flexitarian chooses to eat grass fed beef once every two weeks, they’re doing far more for the environment than they were when they were eating meat, 3 meals a day… as well as doing a lot for their personal health… by not eating animal flesh every day.

You are not a vegetarian yet until you quit all meat (including seafood, poultry, red meat).
Since this is a transition period to becoming a vegetarian, you could address yourself as Flexitarian (although this definition is not widely accepted) but just use it for now so will not confused some others who do not understand real vegetarianism.
Depending on how frequent is the “once in a while”, you could start slow by cutting red meat out 1st follow by eating poultry or seafood once every 2 weeks then slowly I guess you will forget all about it.
Do remember to eat right with the daily required amount of protein, Vitamin B12 and D, iron and zinc when you are a vegetarian.

No. If you eat meat, you’re not a vegetarian… duh.
It doesn’t matter what you’re called. Calling yourself a vegetarian doesn’t mean you’ll get some sort of reward or blue ribbon.

Nope. Vegetarians don’t eat meat once in a while, on a holiday, on the weekends or on special occasions.
