i like the way you killed the fish…. i hate when people beat their food
to death… and i like the way you made peace with the fish… it reminds
us that food is a blessing and not just something you buy..
good video.. thanks for sharing..
Using an electric knife makes filleting SOOOO much easier….and, you don’t
have to make the two initial cuts. Just place your knife along the natural
angle made by the gill fin and cut straight down to the back bone. Then,
back your knife out just a bit, and make a 90 degree turn and cut straight
back to the tail. Flip that piece over and cut the meat away from the skin.
Sometimes you have to cut the rib cage away, but not all the time.
You do not need much skill about gardening to grow plants and fruits
without toxic chemicals with aquaphonics system

That is NOT how to filet a fish. There is no reason to gut them, in fact
it’s not a good idea at all. You’re using a totally wrong knife. There’s a
reason they have special knives for filleting a fish. That knife is WAY too
dull and too fat. You’re also missing the cheek flesh too.
Knife goes in guts come out. Knife goes in g… “Don’t kill me, I’m a magic
fish and I can’t grant you anything you…..” uts come out. Knife goes in
guts come out.
I think you should look into the method often used in japan – it involved
taking a very thin knife or needle to poke at the brain stem and they’ll
die instantly and without distressing the fish. honestly, Japanese fish
prep is (I think) a bit more pleasant of a process and may be worth you
looking into if you’re going to be raising your own fish.
what is the minimum size tank you can keep tilapa in? I am setting up a
aquaponic garden out of 55 gallon drums. Will this be big enough for
tilapia? Also, how long does it take for them to grew to full size? Thank
you

Nice video! Handy tip with the pliers. There are some really good videos
on getting the most yield when filleting a talapia on YouTube. You might
want to check them out. Going to go through your other vids when I have
time. Hopefully you have some on your aquaponics setup.
Most humane way to kill a gilled animal is to remove them from the water,
take a mouthful of your favorite strong-proof alcohol (i prefer rum) and
spit the rum into and across the membranes of the fish’s gills. Puts them
immediately into a drunken coma. They feel nothing after that. We all could
only wish to go out so peacefully.
Lady you seriously need a lesson on filleting fish. Firstly putting them in
ice water causes severe pain making the meat more tasteless. Bashing them
is less painful and makes them taste better. When filleting, try laying
your fish on a damp cloth.

You should intensely scale the fish first lol.

Dry ice would suffocate the fish in a matter of minutes. It can be used for
rabbits and other small animals.

Not bashing their heads is easier on you but you are kinda torturing the
fish! :/

Why wouldn’t you de scale them before you fila them? It has to be easier to
de scale the whole fish instead of fila’s.

You don’t need to cut the tail till last. 🙂 It makes it a little easier to
hold onto.

The great news is you’ll be able to create your own aquaphonics system
although you have no idea about building aquaphonics before.
