  1. Good info here. I was wondering how things are going with the fish-less
system. Also, you said you use about 1-2 c. ammonia per week, but you
didn’t say roughly how much liquid seaweed and and chelated iron and
frequency. I live a few hours east of you with the summer heat but colder
winters, and I am looking at running a fish-less system. Any
    ideas/tips/advice?

  3. Nice system. Impressive for the low care you say you put into it. I’m
always busy too. Check out mine. Arizona Subterranean Greenhouse.

  5. AP is all new for me. my plants seem to be growing well. However, I’ve not
seen any fruit. A bit disappointing. Any ideas to help produce fruit?

  6. Before I do I want to know what grows well and what does not. I may move it
off of the concrete pad and put it on the ground so I can bury a bigger
sump tank. The nice thing about this is it’s modular. You can move it
around, make it bigger or smaller, and adjust it to your needs.

  8. Bobby, as much as people say aquaponics is a self-contained system, a
typical AP system is very low on phosphates and they need to be added as a
supplement for fruiting plants. If you do a google search for “aquaponic
tomato supplement” you’ll find what you need.

  10. A big sump tank is key. Each one of my grow beds has it own sump. I’m about
to add 4 more beds. Hopefully my whole backyard will be grow beds. Thanks
    for the update.

  12. In order to get fruit you must have fruit bearing flowers and they must be
pollinated. Some plants have both male and female in the same flower and
some have separate male and female flowers (cantaloupe, and watermelon).
There is info on the web about self pollinating but nature is the best
i.e.. bees, hummingbirds, pollinating wasps, hover flies, butterflies.

  13. I’m pretty sure you want to pull the mint asap, it will completely take
over your beds and you’ll have to gut it and start again. Otherwise
fantastic system. You could put the mint in a DWC pot instead, it should be
    safe there. Mind is notorious.
