Apart from “women-owned”, what other interesting certifications can I get for my small business?

Question by wildheavenfarm: Apart from “women-owned”, what other interesting certifications can I get for my small business?
I raise goats on my family farm and make soap and skin care products with their milk, which I sell online, wholesale, at our Farmers’ Market and at craft shows/street fairs.

Also, I’m in the planning stages for a Virginia-oriented gift shop.
Apart from ‘organic’, which I cannot get.

  3. Are you an organic farmer? If so you should get certified as organic. Also, check with your state for small business certification (check your state’s website for application information).

  4. Wow that is truly unique and very creative!

Here in Southern California we have large “Swap Meets” or Flea Markets and that sort of product would really be popular I am sure.

I love goat cheese, have you done that?

Also goat meat is popular particularly with the Hispanic market we have here.

At any rate, sounds like you are a entrepreneur and very creative. It will come to you!

Wishing you and the goats good luck!

  5. I was reading about B Corporation certification, which basically regulates how socially conscious your business is. I read the article in this month’s issue of Inc., a magazine for small businesses. You can read the article here: http://www.inc.com/magazine/20070701/priority-a-new-kind-of-company.html
