  1. salam.. saya baru belajar untuk memahami sistem sifon ni. saya dah tonton
beberapa kali. macam mana tindakan “flush” ni boleh berlaku? kalo En affnan
    tak busy minta penerangan ye

  2. This is experimentation of siphon, the design now has mature and not a
problem of breaking the siphon at all.

  3. drill a second set of holes an inch higher on the pipe so it can break the
    siphon

  4. You have made another hole in the GB for the water inlet? Shouldn’t it be
    flowing from the out side?

  5. Nice video, how many systems do you have going? Are you moving to a 12 inch
grow beds? Both my systems are set at about 12 inches as recommended by
Murray Hallam. Check out my videos, just posted some new ones on both my
    indoor and outdoor systems.

  7. Great stuff. I was wondering, why don’t you use a snorkel for your siphon?
I’ve been doing some research, and the siphons on youtube don’t have
snorkels, but seem to work fine, however the literature I’m reading says
that these siphons should use a snorkel. Thanks

  10. you don’t need a snorkel if you make properly placed slits or notches near
the bottom of the bell. what you do is make the slits or notches on the
bell at the same height as the minimum water level you’re looking fo. when
the siphon activates, it’ll empty the reservoir down to the slits or
notches and start sucking air, this air will kill the vacuum and stop the
    siphon.

  11. BTW PVC IS VERY COMMON IN THE USA [INVENTED HERE] AND VERY INEXPENSIVE YOU
CAN ALSO USE A SODA BOTTLE AS A BELL AND STANDPIPE

  12. @hippietrain The siphon using snorkel is of different design, this one do
away with it due to the shape of the inlet its not necessary to have the
    snorkel.

  17. drill 8 mm to 12 holes at a hight of between 1″ to 2″ in a line all the way
round the bell housing this will collapse the vacuum within the bell
housing and stop draining (this is not a back presser problem or because
you have no breather pip) you water flow into the size container is to high
and will not allow the bell housing to lose vacuum, another fix is to
increase the flow rate out of the stand pipe, this means making it bigger
    in diameter. (diameter = flow / hight = pressure)trust me :b

  18. i am really interested with the aquaponics and will start this system early
of january. im quite concerned of the electric bill though, should you be
running the pumps 24/7 to water the plants or just till the water level is
just an inch below the top of the gravel? Thanks.

  20. It seems you will need to double the size of the water volume for the
reservior, maybe a smaller growth bed, or shorten the bell siphon pipe.

  21. Hey Affnan, my siphon is also about 12 inches high, the bell is 12 inches I
think, the standpipe is 9and a half inches high in the GB. Its been acting
sticky lately but usually it cuts off just fine thanks to the breather tube
    on it.

  22. Is that a siphon or a straight drain pipe? Siphons required a vacuum and
your air holes on top shows it to not be a siphon system.

  23. @KBMemon Hi KB,, on breather tube siphon I cannot comment because I don’t
practice it. Maybe need to do some cleaning, other that that I can’t advise
any. The Siphon with funnel reducer I don’t experience any problem that
    can’t be fix yet.

  24. I have a few growbed, yes I am going towards 12 inches growbed to try out
more plants and test the siphon at this height. So far I have not test to
this height on this size siphon. There’s one on my “just for fun” project
the siphon standpipe is 18 inches, not a problem there.. however that
siphon was using a 50mm bell with 32mm ~ 25mm reducer with 25mm stand pipe.

  25. @KBMemon If you have breather tube on your siphon, it should work. Just
ensure nothing block the tube, just do some occasional cleaning. I don’t
use this type so I guess that the only maintenance you should do on it.
