How to make raised beds out of free wood pallets. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you aren’t using a perforated liner, or something that allows water to drain, you’ll need to, carefully, put holes in your plastic after stapling it to your pallets. Like our 5 on the Farm series? Subscribe to this station!
So I guess if you want to plant root vegis, just put the shelf on a lower rung? You also avoid gophers with this, I’ll bet. Those are a great idea.

@ThreeEyedTeddyBear Your comment CRACKED me up. Lee is actually an engineer, but you’d never know it to look at him – and that’s just the way he likes it.
He was planning to put up instructions on our website, but pallets vary so much, you kind of have to make it up as you go along. Hopefully, you won’t have trouble finding good supplies!

This video was amazing and I’ll be honest form the shirt I was expecting something less but for that I apologize. I’m cheap as hell when I can be and I low how interesting it looks. If you add on PLEASE make another video doing everything from getting the pallets to filling in the dirt just to see exactly how it’s done and make sure I don’t skip needed steps

@4GreenEarth2 You need to either buy a perforated liner, or poke holes in the bottom yourself. We poked holes because we’re thrifty.

@abuelita23xxx Yes. We went deeper for the plants that have deeper root systems. It worked amazingly-well for the vine plants, like cucumbers, melons and squash because they could spread down the sides.

This is amazing! Thanks so much for the idea. I suppose you could even go down a shelf or so to plant taller plants, eh? Gotta take this and run with it. Thanks again.Very creative.

@babzc Thanks! We’re very happy with how much easier they are than traditional gardens. It really doesn’t seem like work…

Our raised beds are doing AMAZINGLY well. In the 4 weeks since we planted, the garden has exploded. In two sections, we used fresh compost. We ran out of the “good stuff” and switched to a combination of soil and old barn compost. There was a crazy difference in growth.
