Question by ☆Galaxy ☆: 4-H and Goat Questions?
I was first wanting a pygmy goat but I’ve decided on a Nigerian Dwarf, and I was wanting to do 4 H with her, but 4-H has the Nigerian for a Dairy Goat, does my goat have to be lactating to be in 4-H? Because I don’t want to breed her to keep her lactating. will she still produce milk even if she’s not breed?
Feel free to answer in the comment section below
It depends on the age of your goat (and possibly on where you live). If she is under 2, she would not have to be lactating to be shown. Generally after that, does need to be lactating in order to show them. She does need to be bred to produce milk. You could probably check with your extension office and they would be able to help you out.
