Prototype Micro Power Wind Generator

Presenting a new concept in home power electricity generation. The blades are a nice bit of half pipe in a simple Darius layout. The interesting bit is the power generation. If you look closely, the gap between the coil and the rotor magnet is 80mm. The system is in development. We are hoping to scale it up to charge batteries. Just a quick preview 🙂

  2. Also…this prototype was uploaded a coupla years ago….have you improved your design since? I’d love to build one to charge my leisure battery in my camper…and also provide charge for the guys at camp autolift….who really would love to see you sometime soon. Thanks for you’re time Oliver.

  3. Hey Oliver, we have a mutual friend, Prajna, who pointed me in the direction of your YouTube channel. This prototype looks amazing….and I have a coupla questions if that’s ok? did you measure the volts/ amps output of this with just the one coil? Is it possible to put more magnet/coil combos round the shaft in a circle? Also did you try stacking the thing….having two or three layers of coils going up the shaft? I’m sorry I’m asking so many questions…I know I look like a right nosy git!!

  7. Ì see, so as you have another magnet inside the coil,
    now it makes all sense…
So you are doing the same as the guy with the
    free bike lights generator.
Makes much sense ! Great build !
    Looks so sweet ! 😉

  8. Hi Stefan,
That is a very good question. The first one had two coils but when we started assembly we realised how much torque it required to turn, so we moved the coils out (8cm) and there you have it… It seems to be a sweet spot for these particularly strong magnets 😉

  9. Cool,
but why is your magnet so far away from the pickup coil ? 8 cm away ?
Does that help somehow to not create drag ?

    Many thanks.
