my family tried a little gardening in our backyard this year, but we are the complete opposite of green thumbs. We planted lettuce, watermelon, green bell peppers, and sunflowers. The only things that grew were the sunflowers and the peppers. The lettuce did too, but only a little bit, and i think something was eating the sparse bits that were there anyway. The watermelons never sprouted. We do have an apple tree and a pear tree in our backyard. But they’re just cooking fruits, not sweet.

We’re in the process of buying a small horse farm, so there will be tons of house & garden videos coming in the new year. We also joined a CSA this year, so we didn’t grow much in our own garden. Stay tuned!

@eat02Live Container gardening can be so much fun! I still plant a lot of veggies in pots.
My mums been really ill the last year and a half to take her mind off things we started building up a decent garden out back and the place has totally transformed and is now filled with veg patches and different types of flowers. We are also getting chickens next week ^_^. Thanks for sharing your experiences its always nice to see the hard work of a fellow enthusiast. 😀

You’ve got plenty of time for planting… if you don’t get your seedlings together, just buy started veggies 🙂 My compost heap has been producing for about 7 years now, and I neglect it for long periods of time… last year we opened it up and found pumpkins growing in it from rotten Halloween leftovers! Everything comes together in the end – just make sure to keep the critters out if you have a small yield. I planted strawberries near the back of the yard for the bunnies to steal.
I don’t know where my garden magazine went, but I have yet to start my seedlings and the compost. I am so lazy! I have lots of backyard (we live in the city too) and I still can’t get it together. Hopefully, I can get it together within the next few weeks. Gah! You’re yard is lovely!

Love your garden (and chickens). Love the set-up and the well planning to keep it beautiful and all.
But I must ask. What song is that?
