The solar portion powers a small fan to blow air through the system. It increases the air flow which increases the amount of condensation.

How deep is your well already? Just curious since we are also in the desert and the wells we have here (us and neighbors) range fro 580ft to just over 1000 ft deep.

I’m not sure why our northern hemisphere country cousins have such an aversion to rain water. Do you guys have lots of acid rain or is your rain water contaminated with pollution or something? There is nothing better in the world than a rain water shower and rain drinking water!

Greening the desert is a good one, and you may be able to capture natural rainfall and runoff and use it to water garden/animals. You can also potentially raise your water table with a little Permaculture water-holding designing. I know you said you’re in a drought, but rainwater adds up quick if you’ve got roof space and can be stored in large tanks beneath the house…love the upbeat video.
There is a video that you guys need to watch called greening the desert on youtube.
Also you might consider watching backtoeden documentary which you can watch for free at their website. Back to eden discusses a stategy of using wood chip mulch gardening in a dry area of washington state. No watering, may be helpful in considering ways to be water wise.
Edward Linnacre’s AirDrop irrigation system looks inspiring — and, it looks as if a low budget system could be easily made; however, i’m curious why the system has a solar design. The concept is definitely intriguing!
This video maybe helpful… search youtube /watch?v=NH2l6Lcvqtg
Depending on the soil conditions you may need to fabricate a drill bit; i’m excited to see the out come. 🙂
Even those of us that have lived out in the country our whole lives have those setbacks. Most of us give up an leave too. Good to see ya’ll stick it out. I love the videos too.
Maybe permaculture techniques and the use of swales can also bring more water on your property – search for a YouTube video by Geoff Lawton – Greening the desert. Good luck.
Great video, It must of been very difficult to stay calm when your in a drought with little or no well water.
Looking forward to the next instalment 🙂

I love watching the videos, great how too’s, and it’s awesome to see that the kids can do a lot of the work so it spreads out the work load.
