Is the goal of the US Congress to do as little productive activity as possible for as long as possible?

Question by Welcome to Amerika Mr. 0rwell !!: Is the goal of the US Congress to do as little productive activity as possible for as long as possible?
Democrats in the Senate didn’t feel a need to pass a budget for 4 years (cuz then somebody might add an amendment that politically vulnerable members would have to vote on and perhaps cost them an election………..and party is WAY MORE important than country…….so fk a budget).

Then, Republicans, who claimed they were taking a principled stand against more debt, raised the debt ceiling with ZERO enforcement ability to go with their “no pay” threat (which let’s be honest, is good optics, but doesn’t really affect corrupt multi-millionaires).

So NOW, Democrats have decided they WILL pass a budget (but not because it’s required by the Constitution) because it gives them an opportunity to raise even more revenue.

So the moral of the story seems to be: Democrats don’t give a sh*t about your money, Republicans only pretend to give a sh*t about your money, and the ONLY thing this Congress ever accomplishes is wasting more of it.

  1. my belief is the goal of politicians at any level is simply to be reelected so they don’t have to get a real job and work for a living. therefore, most of them do little more than work on their next election campaign as soon as any given election is over

it should be obvious to anyone paying attention that they are not concerned with working for the good of their constituents or in passing meaningful, beneficial legislation

  2. You have some ideas right about congress….they really have shown NO interest in solving real problems. But where you are wrong is on the “no productivity”, congressmen are VERY busy little bees. They just are busy on the tiny details that mean nothing, they are busy voting for pork for themselves, their friends, and their states. Their busy figuring out new ways to regulate and control things that are already over regulated and controlled.

Don’t think that just because the BIG issues are neglected they aren’t being productive…they are busy alright and they are creating bills and passing laws…just not busy solving major issues.

It reminds me of a man who goes back into his burning house because he’s afraid he might have left his bedroom light on…but forgets to wake up his kids while they sleep in their beds.

  3. Excuse me? Which party was it that vowed from the beginning not to give the President anything he asked for, even if it was something they previously supported?

You go ahead and pretend that it is the Democrats’ fault that this Congress was the least productive in remembered history if you want. The rest of us tend to base our opinions on fact!
