  4. — You’ll have to buy some. Of course, if you have a dehydrator, you w could experiment. I’ve dried onions (and mushrooms too) in mine with good results. Then, you could add in beef soup bullion. . . . I bet that would pretty much suffice for onion soup mix!

  5. I’m way behind the curve. I picked up Make a Mix Cookery and on page 14 the recipe for Braise Beef Cube Mix calls for 1- 1 3/8 oz pack of onion soup mix but there is no onion mix recipe in the book. Can you make onion soup mix or do you have to buy it packaged? Thanks. Your garden looks great!!!!

  12. It’s never to late to get started. Be warned however, every step you take in working towards self-sufficiency feels good — you get addicted to the pursuit. : )

  13. Thanks Dixie for commenting. I try and I must admit, this series though time consuming is really fun for me to put together. And I can make a video even on a bad hair day — bonus!

  14. Oh, I can’t resist buying a couple of jar boxes of lids everytime I grocery shop it’s like an obsession. You know, like always wondering if you have “enough” toilet paper stored up. . . . LOL

  17. Ha ha — I can’t imagine my videos causing excitement, but then again, I have a few subscriptions I am always happy to see new vids pop up on. And for some of them, if it’s been awhile and they don’t put something up, I have to check up on ’em. You know who you are. Owe ya a letter. Gettin’ to it.

  19. Thank you. It’s kinda fun putting this type of video together — appeals to my creative side. I get to write a “script” of sorts, then find accompanying “visual aids”. And it’s all my favorite books for my favorite group of folks. : ) Win, win, win!

  20. I adore Clara and want to be her adopted grandchild. Her little cookbook just arrived and it’s just as charming and helpful as her videos. May she have many more productive years ahead of her, bless her heart.

  21. Hey girlfriend,
Well that is high praise indeed to have the Dehydrating Diva be my #1 fan.!! : )
I had to settle for recommending Mary Bell’s book you know because you haven’t written yours yet. I still refer to your videos more than the book, but just incase I ever can’t access them, it’s nice to have something else as plan B. Hey, I’ve been letting my bread rise in my dehydrator — oh my, does that ever work nice!!!
