Question by Yosef: can i feed my chickens fruit and vegetables with some insects on the side for a week?
hi i am going away and i want to feed my chickens the last fruit and veg i have could they last a week on it and then after that back on their normal food
i have run out of chicken food but i will get some more after this week will it still be ok to keep them on fruit and veg for a week

  1. That will be fine I feed mine fruit and veg all the time just make sure they have there normal food too x

  2. If you are going away and are intending on supplying them with a huge pile of veggies it will rot before they can eat it and could cause problems. I would advise you get a neighbor to feed them smaller portions of the veggies/fruit. Then return to the grain/crumbles once you are home. A fresh supply of water will be necessary too. They will run out of water and once it gets dirty it wont be fit to drink they need fresh water daily. Find a bird sitter
