Question by Toot: How can I help my dog lose weight?
She’s fat, and people stop me on the street and warn me of her health. I’ve been feeding her healthily, and even bought her Vegan dog food (so we can both be Vegans!) and she won’t even look at it! I can’t starve her, so therefore I feed her chicken instead, and she never loses. Help!
Feel free to answer in the comment section below
Talk to your vet, and find an alternate diet plan. Also make sure she gets lots of exercise.
Good luck!

I would suggest that you take your dog to the vet to see if it’s really overweight or not. If it is overweight, then ask your vet how they feel about you feeding your dog Science Diet dog food.

I know what you are going through! My dog is a Border Collie/German Short Hair Pointer mix and the vet says he is about 8 pounds over weight. It depends on your dogs breed but we were told by the previous owner to feed him two cups in the mornoing and at night and the vet said that he really should only get one cup in the morning and at night. We are decreasing the amonut a little each day and she also said exercise is a big key. Try to walk your dog when ever you get the chance and if you aren’t that kind of person just throw a favorite toy up the stairs and have your dog retrieve it and repeat this for as long as your dog remains interested. And I don’t know about your dog but mine is spoiled rotten. He gets way too many treats and the vet reccomended baby carrorts and only one or two treats a day. Ask your vet for more suggestions and good luck!
I also reccomends mixing light food with her regular food. (My dog hates light science diet but we trick him into eating it by putting regular in too.)

First of all don’t feed her chicken if she dosen’t eat the vegan dog food. Try taken her for walks at least daily and you may want to take a visit to the vet. do all you can do and try your best…

TAKE IT FOR LOTS OF WALKS!!! change its dog food and talk to your vet about diet options. play with it a little more. instead of rewarding good behavior with treats, you could give the dog a toy it likes.

try to feed your dog more dog food (low-carb), but some crunchy and juicy veggies/fruits. As for the starvation part, it would be good to starve her – put out only the low-carb dog food for her to eat – chicken doesn’t help her condition! also try to take her out for walks, and try to get her socialised (if she isn’t already) often, dogs eat a lot as a result of their frustration (of staying indoors)

first of all, dogs are carnivores. you can be vegan if you want, but if you want your dog healthy, give it what it’s body was designed for. talk to your vet, get something high quality, and go by the vet’s reccomendations on quantity. walk her more, or get the neighborhood kids to walk her more. get her to play fetch if she will, or another dog to play with her.
