Here is a video that shows you what a wax moth looks like and some signs of them. We will be doing one to show you how to prevent them with some home remedies.

  5. Where did the bees go? Man them things ravaged that hive, sorry! How much honey do you typically yeild from 1 box? I have been considering this but I know nothing about it

  7. It was tough but sometimes that is just beekeeping. Don’t ever stop keeping bee’s! We need more beekeepers out there. If you ever run into any issues you can contact me on our fb page. We also have a beekeeping page on our web site with a second to follow any day now.

  8. Thanks, Brushy MTN beekeeping has some nice small hive beetle traps they also work great! In the spring I will be doing a video on natural wax moth traps!

  9. I did have to deal with a drought, a hurricane, and then hive beetles. I guess I got the hive beetles under control in the end. (Used a vented bottom board with vegetable oil in it and some roach traps outside of the hive. Hope you have better luck next year.

  10. My first year raising bees this year. I’m glad I did not get these this year or I probably would quit before I got started. That is disheartening. Sorry for your loss.

  12. It can do both, If you have a strong queen they will leave if the time of year is right for it but most of the time they just die off

  13. When you get wax moths and the bees can’t keep up with them, do they abscond or does the colony itself die off?
