Question by Joe Hanzel: How much does 1000 square feet of solar panels cost (pool heating)?
How much does 1000 square feet of solar panels cost? This is for a pool with dimensions 75ft by 25ft? How much will it cost including installation fee and the water heater?
This is for an INDOOR SCHOOL POOL.

  1. the expensive way is to have solar panels make electricity to run an electric heater.

    the cheap way is to have panels heat the water directly.

    that’s a fairly large pool, but it should work.
    probably not in Alaska in January.
    but then, you’re not going to generate any electricity there either.

  2. A clear insulating cover would be much cheaper and probably do as much good as creating electricity to heat the water. A green house over it might cost as much as panels, but be much more efficient.

  3. You’d be better off using a solar hot water system on the pool, than generating electricity to run a heater to heat the water.

  4. To achieve total solar heating, the panel square footage must equal 50% of your pool’s square footage (length x width). You can do some pricing on the website below.
