Question by silliemonkie28: What should I do with my constipated 7 month old puppy?
He had dirrhea two days ago so I avoid feeding him for a day and gave him plenty of water to make sure he was hydrated. I started feeding him chicken and rice yesterday but he still hasn’t pooped. He hasn’t poop in almost 48 hours but he is still very active. He doesn’t seem sick but I don’t know whether to take him to the vet or give him another day to see if he does something.

  1. Try feeding him a little canned pumpkin. If that doesn’t work, you might want to see the vet.

  2. You could add some raw carrott to his chicken and rice.

His gut is probably taking time to re-adjust after the starvation period. He shouldn’t stay constipated if you are giving him chicken and rice. It will just take a while for everything to work its way through his system. You could start to re-introduce his normal food now, a little at a time, if the diarrhoea has stopped completely.
