Question by tingoldfish: Can I sell homemade ice cream and bread from my farm?
I live in the Kansas countryside, and usually have a surplus of goat milk and eggs. With this surplus, I make milk bread and ice cream . Everyone who has tried my bread and ice cream tells me that I could easily sell it for a profit. I would like to sell my products from home, but I don’t know how or if I can… Does anyone have any advice or personal experience to get me going? Is this even legal?

Most likely..no. You have to have a commercial kitchen, have it inspected, have a food handlers license, etc. to sell homemade goods like that legally.
It’s really sort of stupid..but in most states, those are the rules. You would need to contact your local health department to get more info. for your state. Good luck!

Call your local chamber of commerce. They can give you advice about the proper way of doing this, and who may be interested in purchasing your products.

I would start with your local community to see if you need permits or license for a business. There also will be health questions that go with the selling of food. Your community should be able to answer all your questions.
