Wind energy is not a future resource, it is here now. There is no question that it will be a primary part of our energy mix in the future. The only question …

this is quite refreshing to hear 🙂 its feels amazing to finally hear some good news.:)
at first I didnt think that wind would be enough to even come to 10% of the power that we need, but now that I hear that all these states and countries mentioned and the percentages given; it makes for a very wide smile. 🙂 we’re getting there friends, were there…
Problem with wind is the good old NIMBY problem. “Yes I want green energy, but I dont want to see it”. I wonder why people dont understand that this technology is absolutely vital for our future energy supply. In countries like Denmark they even support widespread installation of wind energy on your own property. Its entirely possible to live off the grid with a combination of wind and solar if you also accepts the energy intermittence. An electrical car can even work as a storage in crisis.
Oh no, a European wind turbine manufacturer had to cut jobs because China builds them cheaper…. What about the fossil fuel energy companies that cut 10,000 + jobs this year? Guess you guys forgot the first rule of capitalism. Most fail, few win. That is the same in EVERY industry.

things like that happened in australia all the time, solar companies going bust because government wind back there subsidies, result many people losing out, serves them right for supporting a technology that is inefficient
Hey vmgquie, did you see that world’s largest wind turbine manufacturer took a WRONG TURN at the “crossroad”?
“Vestas to cut 1,400 more jobs as it reports quarterly pre-tax loss. Denmark’s struggling wind turbine maker also reduces sales forecast for 2012 with warning that 2013 will be worse still”
Gee they can’t make it even after all those subsidies! And check out the CEO! He’s laughing all the way to the bank!

Time for LFTR!
Well by all means, build your own LFTR in your backyard 🙂 I would love for you to destroy your own family in your hubris, but i guess little Timmy might make more friends with three arms and radiation poisoning.
I am promoting LFTR, that’s all I am saying is LFTR is a cheap, clean, safer way to make actual power, not wind and solar, which is a expensive way to make idiots feel good and think there doing something for the environment when in fact they are doing very little, but you believe whatever you want, I could not care less, the sooner the world is inundated by the sea or any of the other disasters the alarmist talk about the better, serves you all right for not building LFTR
People with common sense do not have friends in this environmental madness. The companies that supply electrical equipment absolutely love renewable’s, they make ten or more times more money as they would from LFTR’s, not counting the transmission lines. The companies that sell fossil fuels love wind and solar because as long as we waste our money on wind we need fossil fuel. Is manmade climate change for real? The emphasis of the environmentalist seems to be how to best milk the taxpayer.
you are wasting your time, they come up with any excuse to rubbish LFTR, these climate alarmist freaks all have money invested in solar or wind, they don’t care about global warming, this is just about making money for them, its all a shame, if they were serious they would be screaming to get LFTR funding, its all a sick joke, at our expense because we will have to pay for higher electricity charges
Intermittent low density solar and wind power became obsolete 100 years ago. Investing in renewable is an incredible waste of money. The future is low cost high density Thorium reactors right in your backyard with no spider webs of very costly transmission lines. The future of civilization is only possible with high density energy sources. Take a look at Curiosity or the most advanced submarines.
So no, the steam cannot be recycled completely. As such massive quantities of freshwater are needed for Nuclear (and to be fair, fossil fuel) plants of every reactor type currently in use today. Some are capable of using sea water…. which only helps if they are situated in coastal regions. Even with a sea water supply freshwater is still used extensively in daily operations of virtually every nuclear power plant in the world.
Hmmmm, i wonder why those silly engineers NEVER build a reactor with a closed water system like that before….. oh right they did…. and it blew up. The “pressure” you are talking about from the steam would be great enough after less than an hour of use to destroy a containing structure of ANY material known to man. The steam doesn’t need sheer pressure, it needs an area of lower pressure/ temperature to diffuse to, and in diffusing to the lower pressure/ temperature area, move the turbines.
Clearly you aren’t aware of how advanced solar and wind now are.. A single well built solar based plant can produce >500 MW. That being said, it isn’t as if solar and wind are the ONLY renewable energy sources. We also have geothermal, biofuels, tidal energy, etc. It is also of note that wind power already makes up a large part of the energy supply of many countries, and the portion it produces is increasing each year. Your claims are unfounded, wind and solar are both exceptionally viable.
Moot point. You are the one advocating giving easily weaponized nuclear material to them. At least if they don’t have Uranium to blow, their damage is limited to conventional attacks, which are generally limited to a few hundred, couple thousand tops in BIG attacks. With access to Uranium, you are looking at a minimum of tens of thousands instantly dead, probably closer to 100,00o’s or millions. Plus many more deaths from radiation poison and cancer.
You cleary read for comprehension well… I explicity stated US foreign policy was not all sugar and roses. That being said each country you listed recieves US aid of at least 1 billion USD annually.
the water can be recycled, why does it have to be released into the atmosphere and lost, steam condenses back to water, don’t it and steam builds pressure that powers the turbine, dearie, sounds like I writing to my grandmother
what’s make believe, america has screwed with, panama, nicargue, el-salvador,indonesia, congo, iran, korea, cuba, vietnam, brazil, chile, cambodia, angola, libya, somalia, poland, and even right now cia is giving money (support) to syrian rebels, there is even more countries I am sure, maybe you are right america might have something to fear from terrorists and other countries who are pissed off with america
then what have you got to be scared of, if everybody loves america because like you say america is so generous, ha, if a country or terrorist want to do harm they will find away with out building a LFTR and getting questionable uranium with high gamma rays, there are many other cheaper ways to destroy cities, look at it like this if we don’t do LFTR the earth is doomed according to climate wankers anyway so we got nothing to loss, because we all know solar and wind power wont power shit

That 1,400 is on top of the 2300 earlier this year. Vestas has had a lot of practice downsizing when government gravy trains end.
