  2. My mother was born in the Philippines and has family there. I have visisted on vacation twice; once when I was three years old, and once when I was in third grade(I am now 18 years old). I have been to rural, suburban, and urban areas in the country. The area in which my mother’s family resides is quite poor in comparison to those in the U.S., in my opinion(I live in the suburbs outside NY). Her family lives on a large area of farmland in which chickens, pigs, and other animals are raised; food is grown in their fields. The Philippines is extremely hot, even in the winter, so I would suggest bringing sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. The country is known for their beautiful beaches, so if you can, be sure to check them out. From my experiences, the people residing in the Philippines are generally kind and friendly. Have fun there, and I hope I’ve helped!:)

  5. Very hot weather (Summer days), Lots of mosquitoes, some very poor sections, horrible traffic and like many poor countries, hold on to your wallet!!

There are silver linings: Very hospitable people, religious with many different cuisine. While you are there try eating: Balot, Dinoguan, Coconut crabs etc. etc.

  8. Depends where you are going? Big cities, beware of pickpockets, snatchers and the pollution which can kill you.
Though most Filipinos and Filipinas are great and friendly especially if you are a foreigner. Boracay is wonderful, beautiful beaches. Food can be good and bad, make sure to bring medicines for diarhea, anti mosquito cream/spray.
It is hot and muggy so wear light cotton clothes.

  9. It really depends on where you are going. I mean, where n the Philippines.

Philippines is like USA. In some places (state in US), it’s cold. Though most of the places in the Philippines is really warm, or hot even, when summer.

Some places are rural, some are urban.

Manila, the capital of the Philippines is honestly polluted so i suggest that you shouldn’t go there.

Go to Palawan or Boracay or Subic to really enjoy the Philippines.
