Question by ♥♥Heather♥♥: Are there any good farm animal camps for teens in the Midwest?
I want to be a vet really bad and I’ve found a couple of good horse camps and just normal summer camps around where I live. Though I would really enjoy going to a camp that has many different farm animals that you could work with and learn more about. I live in Indiana and I’m in 9th grade, so if you know of any good farm animal camps for my age group in the Midwest please let me know.

  1. Purdue has some short-term programs for youth in 4-H, see link below. Are you currently in 4-H? If not, I suggest you contact your local county extension office and ask how you may join. There are a number of animal-related projects that you can do, and not all require that you own an animal. There are many other non-animal related projects as well. Joining would qualify you for workshops, scholarships, etc. available for 4-H members. Some states offer livestock judging camps for 4-H members, but I do not know if that is available in Indiana.

I don’t know how close you are to Indianapolis, but there’s a program for teens at the Indianapolis Zoo, which has horses, cows, sheep, pigs, goats, etc. in its domestic animal section.
