Man I wish I had a place I could put up a setup like that. Love the domes. I’m just trying to get a small hoop house set up in the back yard to put my aquaponics in. It’s going to be awfully cramped in there, but it should work pretty well. Great videos. Thanks for posting them.

Kudos to you!!! You are a 1man crew! Great job planning, and building your Dome, I NEED one too, but with tilapia! Can u explain the overflow tank more? Does that H2O recycle as well? and where does it empty to?

it was a surplus scrap tank from a company that fabricates them. they were cutting it up and throwing it in a dumpster!

It’s a piece of junk…I’ve replaced it twice. I’m now trying a newer (more expensive) pump. It’s only been running for 5 days so I’m hoping it will be a big improvement.

Are you running the system with just the one bilge pump? It looks like a Rule and I’ve been running one continuously for a few months now with no problem. I use a Quiet One connected to the grid for pumping to media beds and the DC pump/PV for supplemental/redundant aeration. Always enjoy your videos. GT

Never thought to check the siphons for root growth – sure enough, they’re in there. Spinning the pipe did the trick to clean them out, tho. Thanks!

Have you thought about a swirl filter you can use a sipon tube to pull your solids out and then overflow to a secondary tank this will help keep the solids out of your pumps I found this helpfull after getting tired of cleaning my pump every week Just a tought

The pump doesn’t have any problem with the fish solids so I don’t want to put a screen over it since I want to get the solids out of the tank. It’s only an issue when I throw the lettuce in for the fish. It’s no big deal to clean it off every couple of weeks. Right now I don’t have any extra lettuce so it’s running just fine!

I agree with Robert. We use the same bilge pumps and find them clogging also. We simply wrap the pump with nylon window screen and secure it with a zip tie.
