More than the turkey-tail, the cute foot feathers impressed me.

  2. Fried chick with onion soup mix in the flour. It gives it more flavor without being over powering

  3. Well most men like fried chicken….Corn on the cob with biscuits and gravy..Chicken gravy is the best for biscuits I think…Yum

    You will need…………

2-1/2 to 3 pounds of broiler-fryer chicken cut, cleaned and dried
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 tablespoon salt
    1 teaspoon black pepper
I use Crisco to fry chicken…not as heavy as oil and makes great gravy…

Mix the flour and salt and pepper and coat chicken…Melt Crisco in a cast iron skillet if you have one…take the coated chicken and put in the pan and brown on both sides…on high heat…after it is brown turn down to medium and cook for about 45 minutes…Or you can transfer to the oven to finish cooking…

    Enjoy…

  4. Fried chicken:

Buy a package of chicken pieces – thighs and drumsticks work best. Rinse the chicken and dry with paper towels. Dredge the chicken pieces in buttermilk and flour. Add salt and pepper to the flour. Do it twice to get a thick coating. Heat about 1/4″ oil ( I like to use olive oil) in a frying pan – cast iron is best if you have one. Make sure the oil is very hot, otherwise the chicken will soak up the oil and be too greasy. Fry the chicken until it is crispy – poke a knife the the meatiest parts to make sure the juices run clear – then you will know it is done. If bloody or pink, continue cooking.

Serve with mashed potatoes , gravy and green beans. Hillbilly green beans ( beans cooked with ham hocks and potaotes) are good with this. My dad’s family is from the south and there is nothing like southern home cooking 🙂

  5. Southern Fried Chicken

Soak chicken pieces in buttermilk with a tablespoon of salt for at least an hour. if longer put in fridge.

Then remove and coat with flour, then dip in egg wash and then coat with bread crumbs.

Fry in a pan with 1/4 inch of oil on medium heat for about 45 min to 1 hour turning to brown both sides. Or deep fry until golden brown.
