Question by Fufufu: How many days to keep dog on bland food diarrhea?
My dog had diarrhea for a day and a half and we started to feed her chicken and rice.

How many days should I keep her on this?

I’m thinking today and tomorrow on it, then 3rd day add half dog food half chicken rice then the 4th day back to dry dog food. We use Innova by the way if it’s any concern to anyone..
If her stool returns to normal today, should I completely stop next meal?

  2. I would wait until the diarrhoea goes away.

That is the only way to make sure it worked.

  3. that will usually help after the first day but if you notice that she still has diarrhea do the bland diet for another day. i usually only have to withhold my dogs regular food for 24 hours and his bowels will firm up. I also mix the rice and chicken in with his regular food once I feed him again which also helps.

  4. just feed her chicken and rice dog food and add a regular spoon full of PLAIN yogurt to her diner and that will help with her digestive system and keep doing this until everything is normal

  5. my dog goes through the same thing anytime he eats a different food. I asked a vet if it was ok to give the dog Pepto Bismol and he said
“if you can get the dog to take it, it will work.” I have a 90lb pit bull, very nice and I was unable to just pour it down his throat, instead i used a baby medicine oral dispeser, kinda like a small turkey baster. Now anytime he has diarrhea i give him the human equivilent because of weight and he is fine.
