Question by Rowena: Is it dangerous for chickens to eat chicken?
Is it dangerous to feed pet chickens chicken products, such as chicken stock, eggs etc and then eat the eggs they lay?

  2. It’s not dangerous but it is turing you chickens int caniabls. Just save the bread, and veggie scraps for them. Give the meat to the dog and put eggs shells i your potted plants.

  4. chickens will eat almost anything and are cannibalistic by nature especially if over crowded. The feeding of eggs is okay that is the shells but should be dried and crushed it will recycle in the formation of shells and old timers did this all the time presently if using commercial feeds oyster shell is used to increase calcium.
    To sum up if you only have a few pet chickens best to feed grains and greens and if using egg shells as mentioned be sure they are well dried or it will encourage them to eat their own eggs. The hens if outside will forage enough worms and insects to satisfy their carnivorous nature,

  6. Yes it is also illegal in the UK to feed animal products to animals that are in the food chain. All the best. Rab
