why all the hostility, brother? You may fault me for keeping bees or fault me for the place I was born but we all reap what we sew. As I understand, only the queen was carniolan. However, I didn’t care what kind if bees they were. I prefer hybrid genetically diverse hive. Take care. Love to you in your time of need.

if they are carniolan than im a pope!!! carniolan,pure carniolan are grey, very grey at the bottom especially. are you americans believe anything that other will tell you??? jizz….

Take a very sharp knife, cut out one of the screen panels and then you can dump the bees in the hive with one shake. Trust me it works great.

hey, really cool video! You know, the exact parts where you apologize for- bee-ing in the moment are the best parts, like when the video starts shaking side to side when you’re pouring the bees or talking to yourself, you really get the feel of what its really like, and like the other person said, the sound of the bees is incredible!! Thanks! I got a morel mushroom picking video and a cob pizza oven we just built-check em out!!

I get stung on occasion. It’s part of beekeeping and I just accept it. Their venom is good medicine for arthritis so I just thank them for the free medicine. Usually if I get stung once, I keep going but if I get stung twice I try and stop beekeeping until the next day. I usually don’t get stung installing bees. But sometimes when checking them or putting feeders in, or taking honey or wax out, I sometimes get stung. Smoke calms them down so that is always an option.

I just HAD to watch this again. There’s something very soothing about the sound of hundreds of bees buzzing. Do you have to do anything to prevent them from stinging you? Other than the safety hat and attire, of course.

I am not the breeder. What they do is give you a purebred queen and a mix of workers. That way the brood will be pure but yes, it is likely that most of the bees you see here may have some kind of mix. I noticed it appeared that I have a mix of italian, carniolan, russian and who knows what else LOL. I keep seeing Russian bees flying around and I know I don’t have any Russian Queens right now 🙂 Unless my neighbors have them.

The bees is not clearly Carniolan bees, they are mixed.

I have one but sugar water is easier (to me) for an install because they are so hungry they just focus on licking one another and getting all the sticky sugar off. Smoker is more for messing around with them later. Calms them down.

All honey bees originate in Europe. Different breeds from different areas of Europe. I have Italian and Carniolan bees right now. I am also looking to get some Russian bees sometime as they are better for cold climates. The Carniolan bees are from eastern europe if I remember correctly. Italians are considered “easy” to work with although I think I prefer Carniolans as they produce more honey. Get connected with your local beekeepers association for advise on whats best for you.

Thanks for sharing this experiences with us! I wish I could be a bee keeper but im allergic to them! I hope you did not get stung! Keep us updated on those bee! Thanks again for sharing!
