I should have explained the use of human urine in more detail. I am using it during my Wisconsin Fall/Winter preparation of my compost piles and in my LASAGNA METHOD of gardening. This time of the year I do not have a lot of green matter, mostly brown. The way I figure is urine is FREE and easy to get. :0) I think our snows and rains dilute enough that I do not have to water it down, since I am sprinkling it evenly over the brown leaves. My kitchen scraps must be shared with my WORM FARMS.

The simple answer is probably yes however the more complicated answer is how diluted? Due to the high concentration in small amount of urine would need to dilute for a more even application. Once on dirt then the general distribution is only “down” whereas the ph balance is gained by horizontal distribution not vertical. No roots below so no gain if drains out of top 2-6 inches of soil.

I think he said to just till one time and once you place your seedlings in, just cover with mulch again. Or simply, just try to disturb the soil as little as possible.

This is good info. Be sure to check out “Back to Eden” for a similar method that uses 4″ of wood chips and zero tilling…not even once. 🙂 Getting a “quick start” requires a little more work, but it’s all explained in the movie. (Atheists & non-Christians will need to look beyond the preachiness of the movie…it’s worth it!)

With this method do you just keep layering? This year I will be laying broken up leaves, cardboard/ newspapers and then composted manure on top…

Hey, great video! Another thing to consider is the HUGE problem of herbicide contamination in manure, compost, mulch, etc. The only way to clean-up these toxins is with activated charcoal products like Biogize-SD Soil Detox. Soil scientists are now saying herbicides can stay in the soil for years affecting your plants and your health.

I get the idea of don’t till the soil. But how do you plant anything without tilling or digging, which is the same in a sense as you disturb the soil. You cannot mulch and build up soil over 100sqft in 1 season, it would take a mega amount of material.

Thanks i’ll check it out . Just thought of another book. I THINK the authors name was A, Guest and the book was called No Dig Gardenning . He was saying all the stuff Dr G. is saying . Like E. Balfour he wrote his book in the 1940s when peoples thoughts were understandably on other topics. and i think for this reason neither book recieved the attention it would have done if it came out as a new book today. But HOW the word is spread doesn,t matter as long as it is spread.

– appreciate your suggestions and observations. There is also another video up about using kitchen waste for soil composition you might enjoy. We also try to emphasize the soil is built from top down, so build with mulch, leaves and pay attention to what you see, not what you are not seeing. Thanks.

Great vid . The ideas discussed are very much those of Eve Balfour who wrote a book called The Living Soil and who started THe Soil Association . Sadly i think a lot of the current membership think “organic” is simply about not using chemicals . As the good doctor points out though it goes a lot deeper than that- No pun intended! Theres an old saying that folk would do well to heed. “Feed the soil and let the soil feed the plants “
