Edible Garden in Raised Beds – May 2009
I love gardening with my kids! 🙂 Trying to grow as much as I can in the limited SUNNY spots in my backyard. What I’m growing in the raised bed that wraps around my back porch: pole beans, bush beans, carrots, radishes, zucchini, summer squash, cherry tomatoes, heirloom (Mr. Stripey) tomatoes, rosemary, basil, 1 mammoth sunflower, peas, and marigolds (for pest control). What I’m growing in the 4′ x 8′ bed: onions and just planted green peppers.

Do your zucchini and squash plants only get so big because of the space they are in, or do they get enormous like ours did?

I have to agree that the mixture of plants is very appealing. It definitely gives it a more natural and relaxed look and feel. Everything looks great so far. Congrats! 🙂

Looks like all is well in the garden. My garden is doing great now! All the rain Central Texas received has supercharged the squash and corn!

Thanks…Part of it is I like the “wild” feel of it all being sort of random…and part of it was that my kids got a hold of some seeds and threw them in the soil. 🙂 They planted the sunflower seed there…actually had pull all but that one. Thanks for your comment!
