Question by Jennifer: Writing a research paper on Organic Gardening?
In order to graduate I have to do this whole project on something so I chose this. Everything is done expect the paper. It has to be 7 pages minimum. Can you help me with an outline in order I should write please? How long and what about should my opening and closing paragraphs be? Should I write it on organic gardening techniques or in general. Thank you so much!

I’m not going to do your homework for you, but I will help. Basic paragraph structure involves an opening/thesis statement, at least three supporting facts each in it’s own sentence, and a closing statement which repeats the thesis. An Essay uses the same format, but expands it to paragraphs. Your opening paragraph would have a thesis, three or more supporting sentences, and a closing, then there would be a paragraph correlating to each of those supporting sentences each with it’s own opening, at least three supporting sentences and a closing.
To get all the way to seven pages you could try taking a two pronged approach and having two basic essays, perhaps each one exploring a different big idea related to organic gardening. Perhaps you could do one essay about the impact of organic gardening methods practiced at home and then one about organic gardening methods practiced on a larger scale for commercial profit. You’d have an opening that compared/contrasted, or introduced both essays and tied them together, with a similar closing sentence.
To get some really great information about Organic Gardening and Sustainable Agriculture start by googling John Jeavons and his work. From there you should be able to find many excellent, and impressive sources. John Jeavons is a very well respected researcher who’s spent his life developing methods that a family can sustain itself on a very small piece of land using organic methods. Once you’ve got a handle on his work the rest is easy.
