Followup – Hydroponic Rail System for Growing Lettuce

I received a number of questions after posting the first hydro lettuce video. So I’m gonna try to explain in detail exactly what I did with the original setup. We’ll look at the drip lines, net cups, water levels, and seed starting. I said in the first video that it was easy. It really is a simple process. Also, we’ll take a look at the dutch buckets and see just how well the tomatoes are growing. And you’ll get to see one of our spoiled cats.

  5. What I did was simply wash the loose soil off of the roots by dipping the plants in a bucket of water. Then I put them into the net pots with hydroton. They looked bad for a few days, but they stayed green enough for me to know that they were trying. Once they stood up, they just took off.

  6. Thank you very much for explaining your setup in detail. I was wondering if you could briefly explain how you went about transferring the lettuce sprouts from the dirt to (I’m assuming) rockwool cubes without damaging the sprouts. Thanks!

  10. Wow man! your lettuces look amazing, but MAN your tomatoes! You looked like a posterchild tomato farmer, so much tomatoes! What is the name of the seeds? I never had much success with tomatoes, maybe I get like 3 small tomatoes at one time on one plant. Thanks

  16. Unless you have a greenhouse supplier close by, you’ll probably have to order it online. Growers Supply is a good place to start. And they have roll remnants that will fit smaller GH’s. Morgan County Seeds is another good place to deal with. Check those 2, and if you can’t find what you need, pm me. I’ll try to locate it for you.

  23. yeah, we all want to make fun of the southern “accent” and wording choices but you have to hand it to him, he’s providing a ton of knowlege through trial and error, which is invaluable. I say thank you and I wish I were in a climate where I had more than 2.5-3 months per year to learn in. . .
