A bunch of us went out to St. Johns to visit Eric’s (and Ben’s) chicks. This was their second time outside and they were having a grand old time.

Question by Sage: Why do some people talk nonsense when they are drunk?
Everytime my dad drinks, even if it is just a little he is always going off on some rant like sounds like: “President and governement is stealing our money, i am not hoodini I can’t give you wishes, I want to live on a farm with chickens” “urban areas suck why can’t we move to the country” just like random things that make no sense sometimes he just talks and talks and won’t shutup he even keeps talking when nobody is listening. Then he talks about something and gets himself mad and starts yelling and screaming at us telling us we do not appreciate things, even if we said nothing at all.

What is it with alchohol that makes some people talk nonsense and won’t shut up?

How do I deal with this in the future?

  1. That’s what’s weird about alcohol. It’s considered a depressant, but it makes people rowdy and angry.

  2. when you are drunk, your senses are numbed, and you do not think straight. everyone also reacts to alcohol differently. this is just his reaction. and the obvious solution is for him not to drink if he knows he will say things in such a manner.

  3. Some people talk nonsense when they are perfectly sober. But here’s a start….

Alcohol relaxes a person’s inhibitions (hangups) so that many things that one might suppress or withhold when sober, one would have very little or no restraint in saying or revealing when drunk. The normal restarints of shame, self-consciousness and embarrassment are reduced.
