Hi thank you for educating me about composting I would like to try it for my aunt she likes to harvest plants and flowers. I”m also thinking of planting my own veg garden well a carrot or tomatos. but right now it’s atom here so it’s a bit soon to harvest any veggies, I’m starting a new hobby so far I have 2 chickens and now I’d like to grow my own veggies. I raise my chickens not for there meat only there eggs there my pets any how thank you Rachel.
Put your compost bin in the shadow. It doesn’t need warmth from the sun at all. The bacteria create their own warmth by breaking down the stuff in your pile.
This does not work in australia, it’s to hot and too dry. After 12months the matter at the bottom of the bin is dry brown, flakey, and would be good to put on a fire. Here it only rains once a year.
Right thats it, I’m going to replace my fence panels next week and Im going to use the old ones to make a compost box.
I’ve being throwing my garden waste in the bin for years now and buying in bags of compost. I new it never made sense when I could produce my own.

I like the sieve section… you always see fine compost in videos/pictures, but reality will show you a lot of clumpy stuff, too.
