Question by : how does a solar-water-heater work at night?
Please I ‘m doing a project on the functionality(How stuff works) of a solar-water-heater.Please I want to know whether/how they heat water at night.

  1. Solar heater used to be equipped with an electric heater that set by a clickson (something like thermostat) at 70-80 degres C. It heats the water in case of no solar available and shut off the electric power when the sun is ok. There will not any interuption of hot water night and day, sunny or cloudy.
    It is about 2000 W (9Amp) element for 200 ltr of solar heater system.

  2. Since there I no sunlight at night, a solar water heater will heat water at night. If you have a large, well insulated water tank, the temperature of the water will not decrease significantly during the night. You can also store extra hot in a 2nd well insulated water tank, and pump this water into the house as needed.
