They’re a bit bigger than the rest. It takes a bit of time looking at them to really be able to spot them quickly, but after a bit, it’s pretty easy.

Smoke does not calm bees down, it just makes em busy with saving honey. When they get smoked, they hurry to the honey comb and fill their stomach with honey. They are then less likely to sting.

man you make a removal look like a snap…mine have mostly been more difficult…although I did learn one trick from an old timer when doing a removal….use rubber bands to secure the squares of comb to a frame….works great, I can usually get a goodly amount of good frames of drawn comb after they secure it down..your a top notch beekeeper btw

Great video, John. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wild hive dismantled like that without wearing protective clothing. I saw you had your gear and used your smoker, but you are a real bee-man to handle that task without wearing the gear. It’s interesting to see that wild hives also have to deal with SHB. I loved your plug for your trap; I’m going to buy some this year.

Wow, great video; you are a very brave man; I can’t believe you weren’t getting the crap stung out of you? the smoke helps but I wouldn’t think it was that powerful when you are removing the entire hive; I assume if you did a part three that it would show you leaving the colony in the new deep box with the queen so all the bees would move into the box for transport? Thanks for a great video:)

That smoke calms them so its like weed but when effects wear off I think they attack anything on sight
