  1. An idea, if you haven’t got something done about it yet, is to get some hard plastic sheets or something similar to shove down the sides on the outside or inside of the polytunnel to keep the rain and from pouring into it. Putting them inside might be a good idea so you don’t cause an effect similar to the drainage thing you got on the side for rain. Obviously make sure that you keep about one 1/3 of the sheet of plastic up to create a kind of shield against the rain. just an idea, hope it helps

  5. You should try to put down some mulch on the polytunnel, it may help you with some weeds. In the gardden outside, if you can find a way to incorporate some sand on the ground, it will drain a bit better… Don’t give up if everything doesn’t go weel, just keep trying (because I’m loving your gardening series!!) 9. Yes its very odd weather in the states as well. We had 90F a few weeks ago in March and last week ‘snow’. Last night 26F. Both temps were record breaking.

  12. Rick, I know this might be boring for some of your viewers that have been with you for a long time. Have you ever thought of doing a drive a round video of your area? I might be the only one interested but it would be interested to see. Someone did a short drive up our ghost town Main Street here and posted it on Youtube. Just a thought….

  13. Glad to see that your Poly Tunnel survived. You are getting rain, we are getting frost warnings running to 9am. Northwest of me they got snow out by the Buffalo NY area last week.

  15. If your slugs are still getting in your polytunel then you should use crushed egg shell the slugs are afraid to go near it because its pointy and harms them, but not the environment.wish for more videos and good luck

  17. rick I think you could do with some greenhouse staging in you polly tunnel specially for starting off seedlings in pots and trays.also you have nowhere to do any potting on of seedling before planting out in the polly tunnel soil or outside.

  20. Is there any way you can do a quick video tour of the other plots in the allotment? How are the other gardens doing? It would be nice to do that every few weeks through the summer. Thanks for the vids. I don’t comment much but always watch. Take care.

  22. I think the nematodes are still around. When you watered the plants the water got absorbed into the soil and the nematodes were able to situate themselves. I don’t think the water washed them away. I think they are probably still somewhere in the soil. All is not lost. 🙂 It looks like your polytunnel doors stayed closed though through the whole wind and rain ordeal so that is good. Good luck Rick. Think positive. All will work out. 🙂

  25. If you are thinking about weed killer, they should have something in the stores that kills the weeds but doesn’t affect your produce. I see it on commercials here on TV sometimes so I know something like that has to exist. Do you have a family member who has a garden store? Perhaps they could give you some counsel on this? I don’t think any gardener gets past weeds though. They are just a fact of life when it comes to gardening. The trick is learning how to work with them or get around them.
