****NOTE**** Subscriber “72542” just sent me this: “The Have More Plan”. I thought that I would pass along that the original version of the book is available for reading or download (free) at the Pioneer Living website (www.pioneerliving.net Isn’t that cool!?! Thanks for sharing that Mark!! These are the big books — those books that try to cover everything needed and neccesary to know on a homestead, big and small, modern and primitive. There’s not a lot of titles I’ve found that do a good job, but a few pass the mustard (I think) and those are the ones I’ve mentioned here. “The Have More Plan” by Ed and Carolyn Robinson “The Encyclopedia of Country Living” by Carla Emery “Back to Basics” compiled by Reader’s Digest or newer version edited by Abigail Gehring “The Backyard Homestead” by Carleen Madigan “The Idiot’s Guide to Self-Sufficiency” by Jerome Belanger and “The Foxfire book Series” by Eliot Wigginton
Foxfire was the only way to find out about old ways of doing. Today we have you tube thank God, Somebody out there still knows this stuff and can pass it on. Cheers

I’m a new subscriber and I’ve enjoyed your videos. I have or have read many of the books on your lists and I agree with your choices. I do want to say that “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Self-Sufficient Living” is rather light on content. I really enjoyed reading it because it was inspirational and made me think, so for that reason it does deserve a place in my library. I’m glad I have other books with more thorough information, though!

My favorite homesteading book is The Self-Suffiecient Life and How to Live It by John Seymour. Its the first book that got me interested in homesteading and it is still my favorite. My second favorite is Back to Basics. Great Video!
