Thoes are calf hutches, not “veal pens” The calf is free to move around their own area. The theory is keeping them seperate curbs spread of disease. IT also prevents calves from stepping on one another. Another calf housing option that is kinda catching on is group calf housing(google it), which offers the calves more freedom, teaches calve how to get along with others, but gooddisease management is vital.

The milk tastes different due to the processes the milk goes through at the processors(skimming fat could be a large factor). Artifical insemination, likely the case(what’s the problem?) And finally, keeping and checking cows ancestry before breeding is just good management. Any other questions?

This type of dairy farm is great! One drawback;the more automated machinery,job loss occurs! Also,these cows are just money makers to this dairy.I bet the cows are artificially inseminated.So, mass pregnancy,for veal,and milk production profits. We wonder why different tastes are from the milk,could it be inbreeding.Does the dairy,go over the blood-lines of each dairy cow before impregnating her?
