Hii, me and my family are going on a holiday and afterward we are going to save up to get chickens. I am going to research them and my dad says he knows a lot about them. We want to get Bantams- the smaller chickens and we have two dogs- one is quite old and never really goes outside and my youngest wouldnt really bother the chickens-
I would like some advice on: How big the coop and the chicken run should be, how much the project will cost, how to secure them so cats cant attack them and how could i give them the best life possible? We live in an urban area but have the biggest garden of the whole row of houses, what size will be suitable for the bantams?

The coop depends on how many you’d like. You don’t want it excessively large where it’ll be hard to heat in the winter. Large enough for them to have food, water, grit, oyster shells, nesting boxes and perches all in the coop. We made our coop out of a shed-in-a-box that we customized. Total with fencing supplies it was $ 300 without the cost of birds. The chicken run, the bigger the better! (seriously) You can always make two pens, as you want them to be able to eat grass, bugs, etc. In your situation I would make an enclosed run with netting over the top and about 6inches of fencing buried underground.
