Question by Jeremiah: How many beekeepers are there out there?
Also, if you do raise bees? What species and so-forth do you have?

Are honeybees becoming resistant to the mites now?

  5. My family has a large honey business. I’m sorry to say the mites are still winning. Maybe someday.

It’s a serious problem right now because the mite has become resistant to both of the … bees with a natural resistance to mites, like Russian honey bees.
The above is from march 05..

Thank you! I hadn’t known a thing about honeybees and mites until I read your question.. . Now, I’ll have to do some research and find things out for myself..

Are you planning on trying your hand at Bee keeping.. When I lived in the country, I had given thought to that. Hubby said no .

  9. You already have some of your answers… right/wrong or silly but in the west and south it’s not just the mites that have crippled the bee business. Look up the problems now caused by the africanized honeybees that have caused havoc with the hives and to humans. They are aggressive and deadly to some folks who have allergies or who might get stung multiply times.

If your looking in to going in to business I hope it’s not in my part of the country. New Mex., Az.
