Question by NICK: Does solar water heater work in monsoon?
I’m planning to buy a solar water heater, but fear that my investment will go waste during monsoon when sun hides behind the clouds and during winter/cold days.
Users please suggest as per your experience

On a cloudy day, you will get minimal heat rise in the water system of about 5 degrees above ambient air temperature but you will see some heat gain except for when it is raining.
If you set your system up with a well insulated tank for storage using a heat syphon system you can close the valves on when it is raining, you will at least have some heated water in reserve, however you should have a secondary system available to use in those situations when you do run out. A “flash tube boiler” might be a consideration if you have minimal power or fuel supply because they can be made to be wood fired.

If you live in a warm climate you can almost certainly save money with a solar water heater. Even if it doesn’t work every day, it will save money. What you can do is have the solar feed the tank of a conventional water heater. If there are even a few hours of sun in a day, that is enough to completely heat the water. My observation of my brother’s house in Hawaii is that the conventional heater only turns on a few times a year, when there are multiple dark days in a row.
The best data will come from your neighbors locally. Walk around the neighborhood until you see someone with a solar water heater, then ask them how well it works during monsoon.

Solar heater having a feature of electric heating, during monsoon time you use electricity to heat the water, but during other days it saves too many…
note: every time when you open the tab – first some amount (according to distance of tab and heater) of cold water will come and then only hot water reaches to your tab.
if your living area is have less sun means don’t go for solar heater otherwise you should go for Solar Heater, it will be the best choice.
