  2. I grew up in a family where we were always around a vegetable garden. My great grandma had a huge garden, and when she no longer grew a garden my grandma (who raised me) started gardening again. (guess who got to do most all the labor) I really enjoyed watching those fruits and vegetables grow. I have recently gotten into gardening myself and am regretting not paying more attention to the things they tried to teach me. …What I am saying is thank you so very much for the advice and the vid!

  3. Great Videos! One thing that I would definitely suggest to homesteaders in my region (northern ontario canada) is growing an apple tree. We have two apple trees and they produce thousands of apples every year! Smaller than in they are in the stores but still…Way more than we could possibly eat. We make homemade applesauce with the less than perfect ones and barter the better ones. One of these days i’m going to buy a juicer and open up a apple juice business.

  9. Thank you so much for making these videos, I love the way you do things — it’s so practical, you break it down and make things out of stuff I never would have thought about.

Episode idea I never see homesteaders discuss…

I’m in Georgia, the problem here isn’t heating but COOLING — gets hot and humid here and stays that way for months. A sleeping loft like you have would probably be out of the question, even with a fan sucking the heat out, it would be too hot to sleep or hang out there.

  21. well that sweet life ifeelyummers was talking about includes building the beds, amending the soil, seed starting, planting, mulching, weeding, watering, I know because I do it too. All people see is the final result, and think it just fell out of the sky. I have a huge garden, and several smaller ones, I’m out all Spring doing the above, now Summer is different, after a few weeks of weeding all I have to do is harvest.
