  4. It’s not the plastic LD it’s the chemicals used to make it such as BPA. If the wax is beeswax that would be fine so why not coat the plastic with beeswax and get the best from both.

  5. The plastic is non-toxic to the bees. The bees make the wax, so it is bees wax.

  6. I buy most of my supplies from brushymountainbeefarmDOTcom. They also have an extensive learning section with many hours of training videos.

  7. A good point. They may work the wax foundation before the plastic but they will work both.

  8. It means the bees are making wax and putting it on the foundation. The bees get the wax from their wax glands on the underside of their abdomen.

  12. sounds like they are squirting their fluid into the screens, I’m trying to learn more about bee keeping , but one of my neighbors is not happy about the idea. he is afraid a visiting grand kid will get stung..trying to figure out a good location on the property that the neighbors won’t actually see.

  14. I am going to do more foundationless this year. Otherwise I used both last year and the wax foundation was worked before the plastic.

  16. Which type of plastic is the frame made from and what chemicals could potentially leach out? Also what kind of wax?
