25 Responses to Building a worm farm
I think it is a mistake to add so much food to a new bin as it takes the worms some time to adjust to their new environment. Food should be cut up as small as possible and buried in the bedding, not just placed on top. Blending is ideal. Apart from organic matter such as food scraps, lots of moist shredded paper and cardboard should be added to keep the worms comfortable and to give them a balanced diet. Cover with hessian or moist towel. Do not overfeed as bin will start to smell.
…..I have euro’s and red worms. IN separate bins, what is an easy way to tell a difference between them? I can’t really tell a difference. Thanks for you help!
@pred8tr maybe.. why not? the fish in the household tanks love eating them.. if you have chickens in your back yard. they love eating the worms. so people purchase the worms and love to watch their chicken or fish eat them.. they go krazy over the meal.
