I developed this recipe to teach 5 year olds how to make bread. I now get accosted by their parents almost on a daily basis for the recipe because it is so easy. It only requires one 5min knead and is pretty much left alone to do its thing. Ingredients * 600g Strong White Bread Flour * 7g Easy Dry Yeast * 1tsp brown sugar * 2tsp salt * 400ml lukewarm water * 3 tblsp melted butter Method Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and then knead either by hand or by machine for 5mins. Put the dough in a loaf tin or divide into small rolls. Cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rise in a warm place for approx 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size. Cook in a preheated oven 200c/400f for 30 mins. And that is it. You can use 400g of white and 200g of wholemeal flour if you wish.
Here in the States, I don’t know of anyone with an airing cupboard. What I do is put boiling water in a coffee cup or ramekin in the microwave oven and cover my dough in the loaf pan with cling film or plastic bag, close the door and 40 minutes later it is ready to bake! If you’re going to heat the water in the microwave oven, watch out for superheated water! It will explode!

Thanks for the video. I am going to have to try this out. I am glad to see a recipe that measures the flour by weight. I am also glad to see metric measurements.

Why does it sound like you are sawing through wood? Is the bread’s crust that hard? Is it possible to make a bread with a very soft (like a store loaf) crust?
