  1. Mega rich multinational corporations are not the enemy – we are! My parents (members of the greatest generation) never met a processed food they didn’t like, and bought tons of it. Unless WE change our purchasing ideologies in enough numbers to make a difference, it won’t. The only way to ‘demand’ change is to produce or buy what we ourselves believe in. Now, do these corporations wield too much power with our lawmakers? Yes, they do, across the board. .but we elected these lawmakers, all of em.

  3. @Jefferdaughter Amen. I’m done being a freedom fighter. The only vote that really counts is the one done with the dollar. Produce what you want, and fill in the gaps using local, farm-fresh/farm-produced goods. That’s the way to knock capitalism to its knees.

  5. @jumar1281 – best, andmaybe the only practical way, to ‘demand’ that all our meat – and I would add, all of our FOOD – is produced sustainably, is not to buy or eat anything that has not been.

Grow it yourself, or buy it from someone who grows it the way you would. In a capitalist society, the vote that really counts is your $.

  6. i response to Joel’s last question…. it will never happen as long as Cargill and Tyson are mega rich multinational coroporations who have their greedy grimy fingers into the anus of congress and government. as american consumers until and unless we demand that ALL of our meat is produced this way and not factory farmed there will be no change in the system
