Question by Robby: What around my house could I feed to baby chickens for a snack?
Ok so my little sister brought home baby chickens for some sort of project. We have had them for seven weeks so I know they are at least that old. They seem to be animals that no one cares about in the house and I really wanted to give them treats or something because I feel like they get really ignored. So what is something that I would have around the house that I could feed them? Bread? Fruit? And how should I serve it to them? Do I need to make it tiny little bite sizes for them?

They will like fruit and veggie scraps just put in their pen. They can take time to peck these apart. grass clippings are always good but I would not feed any animal processed human foods as it may contain ingredients harmful to them. Corn or peas from the can or thawed from frozen will be good.

my 8 month rooster adores it since he was only few days old
or maybe you can try some bread or few pasta left overs or even rice left overs
my dad keep telling me that they almost eat everything, i didn’t buy it at first but when i saw mine always jumping to my dishes i was really convinced so don’t worry about them
btw, you really should make it small pieces if they were small chickens i used to smash his food and feed it with my hands even he’s old enough now to get his own food he still comes to me holding his food with is peak then he eats when it’s in my hand 😛

Poor birds If you eat it the birds will as well with them being so small best to place the foods in a container so they wont walk all thew it like eggs any way cooked spaghetti they look like worms to the birds,fruits such as melons cut up berries, green beans corn carrots cooked potatoes cooked,oat meal cooked grits cooked, cat food dry,tomatoes either cooked or raw,pancakes, noodles,left over meats such as chicken, pork, beef,lamb what ever you have do give in tiny size amounts bugs like crickets, roaches, beetles ,(small) these you can find outside in the yard.Many items in the home birds will eat.Be sure to have a water dispenser in the area for the birds and a feeder as well.You have a starter feed for these birds this is a must for proper minerals and vitamins and nutrient’s the baby birds need.If don’t want the birds sell them to someone who wants chickens….

My chickens must be fussy – they wouldn’t eat any of that! And they HATE apple.
