CFL Grow Light Reviews for Indoor Hydroponics and Indoor Gardening

In This video I show the various CFL Grow Lights that I have used the past few years and compare. They are all from local stores such as Menards and Home Depot. I mention the prices and light output for each. I also show hydroponic tomatoes that are a little over 2 weeks old. The largest bulb I show is the maximum length that the fixture can hnadle that I built in a previous video. My work in progress: www.tomorrowsgarden.net Buy your veggie seeds now guys. It’s cheap insurance. The stuff on the store shelves may not always be there.

  5. @SleestaksRule Completely wrong. Study more before lecturing. Lumens is a measurement of the total amount of light emitting from a source. Intensity x angle of radiation. More lumens is more visible light, and you will want a minimum of 2.500 lumens per sq.ft for growing. Preferrably >4000. What you are thinking of is probably light penetration, wich is only a problem for newbies, since you can easily place a few of your many independent CFL’s underneath the canopy.

  8. @TheIronicIdiot CFL bulbs have their ballast in the base. That’s why they cost so much compared to the old bulbs.

  9. I have been getting more interested in indoor growlights since my ‘great idea to bring my tomatos and herbs in for winter” idea blew up in my face over a 2 month period with friends and family watching lol i got my plants living more than sunlight thru the window off a 24″ 15w plant and fish fluorescent bulb set on the edge of the pot. reading i thought 48″fluorescent tubes was the best and cheapest way to do fluorescent indoor growing. why do you prefer CFL? thanks for your video and insight 🙂

  13. that’s called aeroponic not hydroponic. difrence ?? your plants are hanging , the pump sprey water with nutrience to the roots, in hydroponic you get drippers and plants arent hanging. Aeroponic is better (some say) then hydroponic becayse your roots have unlimited access to the air.. nice project you got there

  15. @themutherfunkinDme Right, 3 bulbs at 5,000 lumens is not 15,000 lumens…it’s just 3 bulbs at 5,000 each.

  16. if the lumens is what it is, u cant just add more lights, that doesn’t increase the amount of candle power or lumens, not u but in regards to saying people use a bunch of little bulbs… that wont do the trick
