The primary purpose of my mom’s farm is goat milk, cheese, and butter. It’s only a "hobby farm," but she’s able to keep the family in good supply.
Question by newischk: what makes a cow or goat the only socialy accepted milk sources??
i hate milk, and while doing some studies, i found that cows and sometimes goats are the only socialy accepted milk sources. why do people drink cows or goat milk, but cringe at the thought of llama or pig milk? i mean if treated right it would make as good a beverage as goats or cows milk. and i am sure that who ever first drank cows milk, if they would have instead milked an alpacka, we would be asking why not cow milk. but why if someone tries to convince someone else that any other milk is as good, or maybee even better, you would shun them for their ways? i mean call me crazy like everyone i know does, but this should get you thinking, i have done and am doing my fair share of experimenting, and see no wrong in drinking other animals milk.

I don’t like milk either! I don’t know why the cow and goat were chosen because both are such ugly animals. When I think of all the bacteria, hormones and who-knows-what that goes into milk, it is simply gross that anyone can drink it.

In Greece they use sheep milk for cheese, in rural
Mexico where donkeys are still available they milk females since, they have almost the same nourishing values of HUMAN MILK ,of course it must be pasteurized

It’s all about milk production and money. A pig simply doesn’t produce enough milk for a farmer to sell it and make a profit. Pigs DO produce a lot of offspring, so it makes more sense (dollar-wise) to raise them for meat rather than milk.
Also…only certain breeds of cows and goats are used for milk. Lots of breeds of cattle don’t produce a lot of milk, so they are raised for meat instead. On a dairy farm you might see a lot of Holstein or Jersey cows (among other dairy breeds), but you likely won’t see many Hereford’s or Angus unless you go to a beef producer’s farm, because they are usually not milked.
