You need to contact the University of Hawaii’s Agriculture Department ….they will have the answers you need.

Hydroponic culture technique is used by astronauts to grow different types of vegetations in their fly stations.In this method they mostly sow seeds of desired vegetable with differen nutrients.As a result the seed germinate normally.
